Sarah Harrington

I represent the Permanent Committee on Programs for Mission and Ministry (PC:PMM), a committee of which I’ve been a lay member for 3 years. PC:PMM brings to the Executive of the General Council integrated recommendations on the program life of the church, including work to support justice and global initiatives, congregations and ministries, and our diverse and intercultural ministries. Previously, I have been a member of the Task Group on Intercultural Ministries, and the Task Group on United Church-run Maternity Homes in the 20th Century, both of whom reported to PC:PMM.

I moved to Toronto 5 years ago, after completing my Master of Arts in Religion & Culture at Wilfrid Laurier University. Upon moving to Toronto, I transferred membership to Metropolitan United Church. I have intentionally created a community in intercultural, interfaith spaces, and currently belong to Harmony in Action, a group of individuals who have come together to create interfaith dialogues, as well as a Board Member of Franco-Fete Toronto, a celebration of francophone and Francophile communities in Ontario.

My commitment to this delegation is that I will thoughtfully and thoroughly engage the China Christian Council as a lay representative of PC:PMM in the UCC. I am very much looking forward to meeting everyone!
